I always let my clients know when to expect updates of their comms, so they won't need to wait anxiously like this and it's for my own deadline
Artists please value your clients... they paid for YOUR arts, not just any artists

I'm sorry to OP and other people, fellow artists as well who never heard anything from artists theyved commissioned. it's deeply unfair bc that's your hard earned money too :( I wish people would take more personal responsibility about their work and practice.

turnaround will be stated in the email confirming details before I send an invoice and delivered by then. only time I was late was bc of an eye infection which severely hindered my ability to do anything. but I communicated that to all my clients at the time. boggles my mind...

these tweets are crazy to me... how can someone freelance, not deliver any updates, and not deliver a finished piece at all? yet go on to still take on more commissions? I've always delivered the day before or on the day of the due date if one is discussed. if not, my expected

I see too many ppl bringing up that oh maybe they can't decline bc they need the money.
But clients work hard for their money to comm you too. If you straight up disrespect them publicly then isn't it unfair for the client as well? If you are doing art as a job, be professional.

Artists please just reject a client's request if you don't like their design/concept/request. 😭 one of my biggest desires when sending in art comm requests is for the artist to have fun with it. But if you hate or dislike my design I'd much rather you just reject my request 🥲

Can't believe this needs to be mentioned, but you really shouldn't say bad things about your clients publicly. I've seen video editors say "some of my clients are unfunny and I can't find good clips to edit," and "some of my clients have designs I really hate." It doesn't matter if you don't name them. It is very unprofessional, and it will affect you negatively for a long time.
If you want to vent, you should do so with friends you trust, in private.
