Rep. Tim Burchett has now put an extraordinary allegation into public view.
In remarks to Benny Johnson, Burchett said “something dark is going on,” pointed to scientists and researchers he said had testified, and added the pointed remark, “by the way, I’m not suicidal.” The comments came as pressure continues to build around the release of UFO-related government records after President Donald Trump said in February that federal agencies would begin identifying and releasing files related to UFOs and non-human intelligence.
Burchett’s warning landed against the backdrop of several high-profile deaths and disappearances that have fueled fresh concern. Retired Air Force Maj. Gen. William Neil McCasland has been missing since February 27 after leaving his Albuquerque home on foot, according to authorities. Monica Reza, a missing hiker whose case has drawn renewed attention, disappeared in the Angeles National Forest on June 22, 2025.
MIT fusion scientist Nuno Loureiro died in December 2025 after being shot at his Brookline home. Caltech astronomer Carl Grillmair was shot and killed at his California home on February 16, 2026. In Massachusetts, authorities said a body recovered in March is believed to be Jason Thomas, a Novartis scientist who had been missing since December.
Burchett is no longer speaking in vague terms. He is suggesting that the pattern deserves serious scrutiny, and that the timing is too troubling to dismiss as coincidence.
