I'm struggling with my existential identity in crypto. Everybody has different reasons and beliefs for their stay in this space. Mine has always been defi. I believed and wondered in how it can revolutionalize day to day finance, as well as powering a plethora of new primitives. I sort of don't believe in it anymore, unless a lot changes. Losing this belief made me question my entire duration of association with crypto. What are you in crypto for? What's your core belief?

My trad VC book is at 20-30% IRR, hasn't been hacked or rugged once, and approx 50% of my investments historically have given good returns. This last 4 years in crypto, my angel book is more or less 0, wiped off 8 figures. NFTs wiped off mid 8 figures, despite the products and teams making several millions. Crypto founders don't really care about their token holders or jpeg holders, and after a certain point, don't even care about their product. This is a dogshit industry with just wet dreams of getting rich quick, not building something of value and legacy. That's the unfortunate reality. One thing that's slightly better is the infra layer that doesn't have tokens and is akin to b2b SaaS.

Tbf you have to have a very high IQ to understand Burnie Senders. The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of internet irony and post-meta crypto culture, most of the jokes will go over a typical trader’s head. There's also the Solana dev Toly’s absurdist outlook, which is deftly woven into the coin’s entire existence—his philosophy draws heavily from “what if we just made it dumber” maximalism, for instance. The holders understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of this token, to realize that it’s not just stupid—it says something profound about the state of crypto itself. As a consequence, people who dislike Burnie truly *are* idiots—of course they wouldn’t appreciate, for instance, the humor in a distorted parody of Bernie Sanders being turned into a low-effort memecoin that somehow still pumps. That’s the joke. That’s ALWAYS been the joke. I’m smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons angrily typing “this is so dumb” as the chart candles up in front of them.
