French Jewish woman moves to Israel to enlist in the IDF’s Search and Rescue Brigade after witnessing surge in antisemitism following the October 7, 2023, Hamas massacre:
Private G., who made aliyah (moved to Israel) from France, enlisted in the Home Front Command's Search and Rescue Brigade, accompanied by her brother while her parents remained in France. "I grew up my whole life in France, but after October 7 [2023] I saw all the antisemitism there, how Jews hide their identity and how many people simply hate us," she said. "I understood that I couldn't just stay and do nothing, continuing to live a comfortable life while my people are suffering. I felt that I had to do something for my people." After exploring several IDF units, she chose the Search and Rescue Brigade because "being a soldier in the army of Israel, in a brigade that saves and rescues people, is the strongest answer to hatred and antisemitism." She now joins the brigade during Operation Roaring Lion, declaring, "I'm ready to give my very best!”.
