I also reflect on this quite a bit in the new age of machines which eat the PSAT for breakfast, but which people seem quite committed to saying are not demonstrating intelligence. I hope the same bar is not applied to e.g. the 50th percentile of the population.

This article gets at one of the really troubling aspects of generative AI: the way it’s driving a breakdown in trust. Whether it’s writing or images, it’s becoming harder to trust the things you see and the people around you. It puts everyone on edge and on the defensive.

Trying to tell normies on Threads that an LLM is not just a giant lookup table and actually has a kind of proto-understanding of what you tell it, and that you cannot reason about the world without understanding it But I just get completely ratioed and told I know nothing about how computer programs work

Every software engineer I know using coding agents is busier than they’ve ever been. Code is cheaper, but there’s no shortage jobs to be solved.
