I’M SO EXCITED TO GO HOME AND PLAY MORE RIFTBOUND AHHH really happy about how fired up I am despite the meh games today ^_^ although it got me thinking a lot about my feelings today. I don’t usually long tweet, but for those interested here are some thoughts: (CW: transphobia & jerk behavior) ngl I got really overstimulated when it came to the timer and having to make out-of-game decisions related to it. some of my opponents were really sweet and nice! we both tried our hardest and games were fun. but I had about two opponents who pretty noticeably acted in bad faith re: the clock and certain game actions. both got caught by judges doing sketchy card manipulations, and both noticeably slowed down their play in g2 to a crawl after I quickly won g1. I’m on the spectrum - I’m autistic. It serves me really well for my special interests lol. But I find myself in a zone where it’s really difficult to confront opponents about misdoings or bad faith actions. I’m a social and confrontational person, but especially when I’m dialed in it feels like my social abilities narrow down significantly. I’m realizing now this is just a shortcoming of my brain, and that’s ok! I think moving forward I’ll be mindful to just bring decks that take less turns to close out the game, and leave more up to game skill and less up to out of game decision making. I just wanna win cuz I’m better than my opponent at playing cards. I’m not sure I can handle the meta gaming of recognizing when I’m supposed to call someone out on slowing down, or just scoop my g2 to get a very favorable g3, or even slow down my own g2 to win a set 1-0. Just not my style. And my future deck choices will certainly reflect that. <3 oh and one last side note/little vent for anyone who made it deep enough: to the jerk who slow played me, kept trying to breeze past your card payments, kept ‘forgetting’ to tap your units when you attacked, kept drawing too many cards from your called shots AND KEPT MISGENDERING ME REPEATEDLY DESPITE MY LITERAL PRONOUNS BEING ON THE PAIRINGS WEBSITE… I hope you get better. I hope you regret how you acted and learn to act better. that shit was really upsetting and off putting, and genuinely tanked my mood for the rest of the event. and no one deserves to feel that way. ESPECIALLY not during a tournament. fuck. that sucked. anyway thanks for reading y’all. looking forward to the next event!! <3

Hot take: Riftbound is extremely fun to play, the depth we have for a set 2 tcg is insane and I think Riot does a great job at listening to community feedback. Don't listen to the doomers :)
