Day 143 of building X Growth Engine in public. I have been thinking about two categories of working with AI. Category one is using it. Prompting, generating, iterating. Most people live here and it is genuinely powerful. Category two is training it to work specifically for you. Shaping it around your needs, your context, your goals. The gap between those two categories is bigger than most people realize. Been deep in category two lately. Early days but the potential is hard to ignore. Excited for where this is going.

unshipped work compounds. every week i don't ship, the bar in my head rises. the version i'm comparing it to gets glossier. the cost of being wrong feels bigger because i've already spent more. shipping doesn't get easier with delay. it gets exponentially harder. posting this so i can't quietly miss it: before saturday evening, my project will be submitted for app store review 🙃

@Kyriakos_Pelek always. the lack (or insufficiency) of feedback loop is what makes solo building slightly harder

solo vs team is not a productivity difference. it's a feedback loop difference. on a team, a bad idea dies in standup. solo, a bad idea ships, gets one user, and lives in your codebase for 6 weeks before you realize nobody wanted it. the meetings i used to hate were free quality control.

@johnappscaler Lull builds a personalized wind-down routine for overthinkers and people with ADHD. It walks you through it step by step and blocks the distractions keeping you up - so bedtime stops being something you mean to do and becomes something you actually do

Yeah exactly, communities shutting down has been a major part of this. I'm the same way usually quality over quantity every time. I'm going to do it, I get a great vibe from you Czarina. Let me juggle a few things over the next few days and test some waters with a few people. I will make it happen though

that'd be nice! there's a lot of people starting their own builder communities but the problem with those is that they're optimizing for quantity. an average person can really only keep up with so many people and interact meaningfully, so a smaller tight knit group is ideal. if you actually put together a more formal group, i'd be an active participant. i'd rather have a close group of ppl vs a lot of randoms and yes to that. until this side hobby pays for itself, the other more stable income streams need to remain

@czarinabuilds Of course you can join, right now we kind of ping pong around eachothers profiles and sporadically DM when bigger things change, I should put together a more formal group. I get that, it's ambitious wanting to build anything for yourself with other responsibilities on the go.

@TomTurcotteTech ooh. that's smart. so it's like a guild of sorts? any chance I can join you guys? eventually I will. just getting the iOS out though has been a slow burn, especially with a full time job and a kid lol but planning to submit it to App Store this week

@czarinabuilds True that, having a good feedback loop is critical. I am solo but have teamed up with a few other builders to ensure we can give and get feedback, it's been some of my most valuable iterations. Are you planning a release for android?

@simplydt Thanks David!! I spent too many years trying to beat a dead horse, so it's about time to pre-commit to some metrics before I do that again 😅

kill criterion for my side project trylull.com: month 5, ~$1–3K MRR, 40%+ trial-to-paid, 10%+ MoM growth. if it’s not there, i shut it down. writing it down before launch is the only reason i’ll actually do it.

Day 6/90. $0 MRR. 7 followers. 5 signups. Still very much in the struggle phase as a dev who sucks at marketing 😂 figuring it out live. This week - I published 180 PSEO pages (finally shipped them). - PSEO pages still not indexed (Google being Google). - DM’d previous Gummy Search users and got zero replies again. The 5 signups actually feel real. Now the hard part: turning interest into dollars. If you’ve been through early signups but no revenue yet, what actually moved the needle for you? One real tactic, no fluff. Drop it below 👇 #buildinpublic #indiehacker

I just finished writing my most valuable PDF yet: "$0 to $10K MRR in 14 days" (19 pages) It's everything I wish I knew when starting out. I might charge for this in the future, but for now… Reply "MRR" and I’ll DM it to you for free (must follow)

I started with ~20 popular SaaS tools, then used Claude to expand the list to ~200 and manually filtered the bad fits. Built a template first, then used OpinionDeck APIs to pull Reddit pain points + discussions into Firestore. After that, a script populated the template and generated pages like this: opiniondeck.com/reddit/notion-… Using Astro, so pages are server-rendered.

I made $26 in May 2026. 🐙 Octalect — $22 🦶🏻 BumbBeats — $4 🖼️ Frammme — $0 ✨ StarStream — $0 Battled for a while about if I was going to share this sort of stuff, since I’m kinda new to actually using X and build in public, but I think my account is little enough that its kinda like just sharing with friends, so I’m going all in on sharing my process and progress and build up some confidence! A lot of change happened at the end of May. Feeling good about June!

the indie hacker move that worked for me: stop spending weekends on landing page copy. spend them dm'ing 5 people in your icp. the DMs moved the product more in a month than every copy iteration combined.
