Deep inside Bauchi, something serious just happened and it tells you the kind of pressure these criminals are now facing. Troops under Operation WUTAN DAJI didn’t just pass through, they went straight into Kumbodoro forest and the surrounding village areas and began clearing out bandits’ camps one after the other. This wasn’t a casual patrol, it was a deliberate push led by Brigadier General S.S. Shehu, with support from the Brigade Headquarters and the Office of the National Security Adviser. By the time they were done, several camps, including the well-known Azuge camps, had been dismantled. Some of the bandits didn’t make it out. Others ran, abandoning everything they had built there. And when you see what was recovered, you begin to understand how organized these groups were. Rifles, dane guns, magazines, communication devices, even uniforms of security agencies, everything pointing to how they operate, how they disguise, how they stay connected. There were also personal items, phones, ID cards, ATM cards, all of it now in the hands of the troops. But beyond the weapons and equipment, the most important part is this, eight kidnapped victims were brought out alive. That’s eight families that won’t be mourning today. That’s eight lives pulled back from uncertainty. The troops didn’t just clear and leave, they are still there, holding ground inside the forest to make sure those criminals don’t return to rebuild. That kind of follow-through is what makes operations count. And it didn’t end there. In Duguri, working with local vigilantes, they recovered 36 cows that had been scattered, most likely abandoned as bandits fled under pressure. It shows how these operations are affecting not just movement, but the entire structure of these groups. You can tell the morale is high. There’s a sense of control, of direction. The message is clear, these spaces are no longer safe for bandits to operate freely, and the squeeze is getting tighter!!
