‘I WON’T RESIGN!’ jamaicaobserver.com/2026/04/02/i-w… consider giving your successor 4 years to attempt to qualify in 2030 rather than bask in your achievements. It’s about our national football program

@dpos_smith There is potential conflicts - that as tourism minister he may direct more international cricket to st Vincent. But he’s been doing that already. So maybe!!

Why is it taking so long for Dr. Shallow to resign as President of Cricket West Indies? Why does the region have to wait more than a week for a decision?

@ClydeWilliams46 I agree wholeheartedly. Why ask the question if you have presumed the answer.

The subject matter of the question is most appropriate. What I do not like is the use of a leading question to deal with the matter. It’s a leading question as it introduces a reason why the immediate past DPP did not lead in cases at the JCPC, lack of confidence. Leading questions are not neutral. So, I agree on the subject but differ on the manner. My preference would be for a non leading, open ended question, such as: why have you not lead any appeal in the JCPC? This approach does not suggest any reason, does not suggest an answer and allows the interviewee to provide the answer. The use of leading questions is a staple in how Jamaican journalists conduct interviews. I find it curious. It’s widespread and the practice. I am not putting a value on the approach, just simply stating my opinion. It’s off putting for me on sensitive topics, as a leading question is not neutral, and since the interview is informational, a kind of bio-pic, and not adversarial, my view is the interviewee should be left with the space to answer through the use of non-leading questions.

Another silver for Jamaica, and a fitting farewell for one of our greatest. Congrats to our women’s 4x100m who ran with courage and composure in Tokyo. Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, Tia Clayton, Tina Clayton, and Jonielle Smith delivered a SB of 41.79 to grab silver in the women’s 4x100m relay. The perfect way to close the World Championships. For Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, this final race was more than a baton passed, it was the closing of a glorious chapter that has inspired a nation for nearly two decades. We are deeply proud of her, and of every athlete who carried our flag with pride on that track. 🇯🇲 The future shines bright. #TeamJamaica 📸 : Jamaica Gleaner
