I’m SHOCKED that “some people are a Mary, and some are a Martha” hasn’t come up in this tidy home debate yet. Twisting that text into whatever we want it to mean feels like it belongs on the twiturgical calendar.

I’m not a big “if you don’t ______” you’re not a Christian” person. I believe in Christian freedom. I don’t claim to know people’s hearts—only God sees that. I work hard to see both sides of an issue. But if you hate the gospel, and don’t think it’s a good starting point for any good-faith Christian discussion, you may not be a Christian. Like, if you’re like “so just to clarify, Jesus died for sinners” and the other guy is like “WHY DO YOU KEEP TALKING ABOUT THAT YOU BLANKITY BLANK BLANK!” That *might* be more of a demonic reaction than a Christian one. And I don’t use that term lightly.

See, not everyone honors the high twiturgical argument calendar which states we should be shifting from arguing about whether or not we should be fasting to whether or not Easter has pagan roots. And some low-twiturgy people are coming in and messing it up with calling women sexual slurs and that isn’t until May when we start arguing over swimwear. Do we need to move to having a traditional and contemporary twiturgical calendars? C’mon people.

@Johnubacon It definitely rang true. Two Harbors, Superior, Gary, Toledo. Going to anchor to wait out the storms. Walking below deck and seeing the ship flex. You captured it well.

Finished @Johnubacon "The Gales of November". I sailed as a 3rd engineer on the Great Lakes in 1988 / 89 and that book brought back so many memories.

Walked outside this morning and it actually felt like spring. With the changing of the seasons, feels like the right time to share: I’ve closed a professional chapter. Enjoying the pause.

@garonnevik @JonAcuff Do you have a link? Reading Leviticus and Hebrews together made both books come alive

@JonAcuff You have to listen to the podcast episodes of "40 minutes in the Old Testament" when they're going through Leviticus. It'll blow your mind.

I am reading the whole Bible this year and I have entered the long, grueling journey that is Leviticus. This is the elephant graveyard of optimistic read through the Bible in a year enthusiasts. If you need to know specific information about skin rashes, I've got you.

Well, I stayed up much later than I planned, reflecting and writing. It's past midnight where I am, so I suppose it's true to say today is my "One Year Out, One Year In." I wrote this for me, but you're welcome to read it, too: open.substack.com/pub/kaylahaas/…

@garonnevik my wife calls January the death season and finds it hard to get through Jan and Feb. So dark and gray and the lights from Christmas are gone.

The winter darkness is starting to get me, but I’m still fighting. Day 2 of intense fog. The older kids have a ski race today so our youngest son asked if I could drop him off at school earlier so he could have more time at morning outdoor recess. 7:45am, it’s still dark, and foggy, and he marched off in his snow gear to whatever games they’re playing. Only 27°F today, very mild. We aren’t even in a deep cold. I’m going to go home, take more vitamin D, maybe do some light therapy, and work on my batch of chicken broth. I got outside yesterday. Don’t know if it have it in me today.

Watched Train Dreams last night. A really excellent movie. Wished I had seen it in the theater. It was one of those movies that you think throughout as well as after the movie.
