I know it shouldn't be the thing that matters but this change to "X" is the nail in the coffin for me. (It's not really the thing that matters, but it is the last straw). Combined with the increase in unwanted content, the departure of people I follow, etc, it's time to go.

I'll probably continue to read for a while at least, but I'll no longer be making posts on this site, and eventually I hope to move away from it altogether. I'll update my Github profile with new accounts in case anyone wants to keep following.

@MagicalBeaker @kareem_carr Yep. There's a much simpler explanation for why .999... = 1. It is that 1 - .999... = .000..., and .000... = 0 since no matter how many digits you calculate, they are all 0.

No matter how close we get to 1, the difference between 0.999... and 1 is smaller than that. What number is smaller than every possible difference? Zero. So, the difference between 0.999... and 1 must be zero. The unavoidable conclusion is 1 and 0.999... are the same number.

Given the amount of interest a tweet showing a photo of an empty cycle lane got, I thought it's a good time to bust out this one again. Cycle lanes and footpath don't appear congested as they (mostly) allow people to move through quickly and efficiently.
