That was the worst and most unsafe train journey I’ve experienced.
@CrossCountryUK you should be ashamed. You lay on a dirty, old train. And allow it to fill to the gunnels. People jammed in filling toilets, vestibules and luggage hold areas. Elderly and disabled people, and mums with young kids treated like cattle. Packed in like sardines. Plus no audible information - tannoy so quiet no one could hear. It’s dangerous for people to travel squashed like this and had I been travelling with my wife and children I’d have got off.
From what I can see on X this is a regular occurrence.
Mark my words - if there is a major tragedy involving an overcrowded train like this there will be horrendous and unnecessary loss of lives, and people rightly going to jail for turning a blind eye.
XC Trains Ltd / Crosscountry Trains - you need to find a way to put the passengers before your profits and shareholders.
@JulieDo17311344@supersonicade@Eddie_EH@mrwilldouglas Sorry Julie but there were some 10 car trains formed by 2x 5 car units. It was called operation Princess and had double units split and connect on core routes with single units continuing to the extremities of the network. It didnt work was a disaster.
@jayforeman@Keir_Starmer They started the thing from the wrong end and appear to have no interest in the part that actually matters. How about moving Parliament to Halifax and see how that shakes things up.
For 14 years, the Tories let Nimbys and zealots clog up our legal system and stop the government building the infrastructure Britain needs.
I won't stand for it.
As part of our Plan for Change, we're taking on the blockers to get Britain building again.

@JasonGreen464@riri65835822@NellTho55693669@elonmusk Im not diverting.
There is a problem with certain gangs, but its not the biggest issue.
Online grooming is by far the largest issue.
Alexander McCartney abused more kids than the grooming gangs, including one little girl who sadly killed herself.
@JohnMappin@BethElliott@elonmusk Absolutely agree we can’t endure another 4 plus years of this. I dread to think what our country is going to be like. It frightens me to death.
🚨 NEW: Elon Musk calls for Tommy Robinson to be released in a series of overnight X posts; where he also criticised Keir Starmer and called for a new election
Musk also posted that ‘only Reform can save Britain’
@dvernalls@mark395625@crepycidon For the railways the fare structure needs massive overhaul. Commitment to HS2 in full and northern powerhouse from Liverpool to hull.
@mark395625@dbound66@crepycidon They haven't got to acheive it all now but given the size of the task they need to at least start, and a key part of that is being clear they understand the problem - and I'd say within 12 months they need to have proposals beyond just nationalisation which in itself isn't enough
I give up.... six posters up for two weeks now advising of a Saturday service on 23rd and 24th, and the rest of the Christmas and New Year period yet people still come down for the normal weekday times.
@dbound66@crepycidon@mark395625 At the moment we really don't - every week GWR are telling people they can't say what trains are running on a Sunday and not to travel unless essential. That means going away for a weekend anywhere across a vast area of the country isn't viable so people are looking elsewhere.
@dbound66@crepycidon@mark395625 However its solved (which won't be quick) it needs sorting so we have a 7 day a week railway otherwise everyone (govt, TOC's and Unions) needs to recognise we won't have a railway. Passengers will fall away and with them the political pressure to maintain it.
@dvernalls@mark395625@crepycidon That would be ok, but there is zero risk to the investor... if the company fails or cant pay the government they just walk away
@mark395625@dbound66@crepycidon Investors having a reasonable return is fine. Staff getting reasonable pay is fine. Its extremes of either that cause problems. If nationalised there is a "return" because the government has to borrow on which there is an interest cost - that sort of return to private co's is OK
@dbound66@crepycidon@mark395625 Not being contracted to work on Sundays for a start - we don't have a functioning railway in GWR land at weekends now. And yes I know that's mostly company at fault but it needs solving without a massive extra pay cost.
@dvernalls@crepycidon@mark395625 That will need at 20% increase in train drivers... if you think you're short now, try bringing in that roster...
My company im contracted to work sunday as overtime if i cant do it then i need to find someone to cover it. Lots of companies have sundays inside the week
