I’m proud to announce a fourth way to run the Väkärián. The new models will include integrated front plate bag tabs and a Velcro-lined waist strap. This change lets you take what used to be leftover components and turn them into a fully functional, low-profile plate carrier. Before, if you converted your setup into a RECCE rig, you were left with two plate bags and a waist strap that didn’t really have a purpose. They just sat there. Now they don’t. With the updated design, that same waist strap can be used to secure the plate bags into a standalone carrier. Simply attach the female buckle to the front plate bag, then run the waist strap through the rear plate bag, using the top-side Velcro to lock into the securing flap. No wasted parts. Everything has a job. Production versions will ship with three tab positions to better accommodate different waist sizes. The prototype shown here has two, but that’s already been improved. If you’re running an older Väkärián, you’re not stuck. I’ll be releasing standalone tabs along with an updated waist strap featuring centerline Velcro, so you can retrofit your existing setup and get the same functionality. Also, completely unrelated, but while I was taking these photos a parakeet flew straight into my hand. Literally. It’s inside with my cockatiel now. So Yüs… I guess I have two birds.

Well, now that the gun community is firmly in the “I own one rifle setup for every scenario” phase, I was initially pushing back, but I actually realized something. The Väkärián is built for exactly what you all are talking about.
