🚨The room raiders are here—and they're stealing your meeting spaces!🚨 Ever walked past a big conference room and spotted just a few folks lounging like they booked a luxury suite? You're not alone. Sensor data from Density uncovered a trend sweeping offices worldwide: meeting room upsizing. Here's the scoop: Solo workers and dynamic duos are the worst offenders, claiming oversized rooms 50% to 59% of the time. For these onesies and twosies, it’s not because there’s a shortage of right-sized rooms. They were available 97% of the time. Larger teams of five to ten are getting the short end of the stick. They’re out there hunting for a room, only to find the Goldilocks-sized ones taken. There’s actually a 30% chance they won’t find the right space for their group size on their floor. Small groups sprawling out means large teams get stranded, holding crucial discussions in open areas or micro kitchens. Not exactly ideal when colleagues are microwaving their lunch nearby. Why is this happening? Pandemic-era habits? Extra space for snacks and laptops? We're exploring theories. Ever walked into your quiet zone and worried about all those empty seats? Good news: they're actually a sign of success. And the data proves it. Our latest findings show that quiet zones, a.k.a.libraries thrive best at about ⅖ utilization. Why? Employees love room to breathe—space for laptops, bags, snacks, and even a little elbow room. Turns out, fewer filled seats mean deeper focus, happier employees and fewer interruptions (yes, less shushing too!). Plus, desks where employees can settle in comfortably are far more popular than booths or nooks (even if they look nice). When utilization peaked at 90%, our sensor data showed people stayed for a shorter period, often less than half an hour. So workplace managers, relax. 🌞 The summer office slump is real. And so is the Friday fade. If your office has felt a little… echo-y lately, it’s not just you. Density’s Director of Analytics and Insights shares that according to Density data, peak office attendance drops to 41% in July. That’s off the high of 47% in March. 📉 Attendance starts the year strong (45% avg. peak in Q1/Q2), but by Q4? We’re down to just 40%. The slow fade is real. And Fridays? Honestly, to some people they’re just optional at this point. 💀 26% in July 💤 21% in December But there is a hero in this story: 🎯 Tuesdays. They’re the most popular day of the week, hitting 56% utilization in February, March and October. 👉 Want to catch coworkers in the wild? Aim for a Tuesday in March.
