there's some speculation within german media that the far right is behind the attack, weaponising it to fuel its anti-leftist narrative. seems unlikely and too conspiratorial - the far right doesn't need to risk this level of fuckery to win elections.

the group has been around since at least the early 2010s, when the group (or groups that used similar volcano symbolism), sabotaged railway infrastructures. 4/
