It’s crazy how Donald Trump wasn’t responsible for Jan 6th but Democrats are supposed to be responsible about what happened to Charlie Kirk

Hi all, Some reflections: This election is shaping up to be extremely close. The polls show an essentially tied race in the swing states. Though Harris’ favorables are up, so are Trump’s. Soothsayers can make plausible claims for either side’s advantage based on the early vote patterns (though I trust and hope you will take them with a grain of salt). A convincing electoral defeat remains possible for both candidates. A popular vote landslide or mandate seems completely out of reach. The country is divided — we stand at a crossroads between two futures, two realities. As we were two years ago, four years ago, six years ago, and eight years ago the day MAGA took power. Since Joe Biden's 2020 victory and the attack on our Capitol, my sole objective in public life has been to shine a light on the corruption, lies, and criminality of the MAGA elite, particularly the former president. My advocacy over this period has, I understand, smacked of rank partisanship to some observers. I want to assure my followers that everything I do and say regarding our country and this election has been grounded in patriotism. I love the USA. This was the country that decades ago embraced my parents trying to escape insurgency and war in Peru. America is where I was born, where I went to school, where I’ve made my living — practicing American law. To me, America means republicanism, rule of law, justice, fairness, and opportunity — all grounded in that magnificent Constitution ratified over two centuries ago and amended dozens of times since. My hope was that my words, in some way somehow, might have had an impact on one person. A Trump victory would be a profound setback to the America I know. These warning seem so cliche but they are necessary. The dangers of a second Trump presidency without any guard rails, inhibitors, or checks — are too big to roll the dice on. You cannot underestimate MAGA, you cannot sleepwalk into November. Did you believe we would get here — after everything? It’s time to tell the truth: Trump and his movement are stronger than they’ve ever been. They have more mainstream support than they’ve ever had. They are cunning and unified. A stamp of approval next month by the American people would be the ultimate vindication for MAGA. People you know, institutions you respect, will fall in line. The history books, our public memory perhaps, will be re-written by the intellectual contagion of MAGA. What does America mean? Who actually won the 2020 election? Who are the heroes and who are the villains? But it’s not too late. It’s not too late for us to make a difference. There is a week and a half left. This is it. Talk to the people you know, the people you love. Make your voice heard. If Trump wins, I’m not going anywhere and I won’t be silent. I hope you are the same. It will continue to be our responsibility to fight for the USA and its values — we owe it to our home, our parents, and/or children. But don’t resign yourself to defeat — there’s time on the clock and plenty left to fight for *now* 🙂

Write-up: I wanted to talk a little about my content creation career and what I plan to do with it. Today I just got done recording VO for a vide on Couch Co-Op. So to answer that question, yes, I'm still involved in Couch Co-Op. I've also floated the idea of getting some Deadlock content up on G's Gaming Experience, but that's not what this writeup is about. Some people obviously note that I yap about politics a lot and have used Siege as a vehicle to commentate on matters of pop culture and politics occasionally. Those are some of my best performing videos when I get the opportunity to make them. That tells me that people enjoy them. And I think the reason they're so engaging is because of the shoulders of giants I stand on. My interest in American civics was passed down from a family which committed to it themselves. Both my mother and father's sides of the family grew up around Washington DC. While I grew up in Jefferson County, West Virginia, an hour and a half drive from here, it is still considered a part of the DC Metro Area because of its presence in the Amtrak network for commuters crazy enough to wake up at 4am and ride to Union Station, commuters like my mom. My dad retired when I showed up. My mom would leave the house well before the sun came up, and come back well after the sun came down. It was a bit of a weird arrangement, and some commented on why we didn't just live closer to the city, but I didn't really put it together until I was older. My dad was a combat veteran, and the violence took a toll on him. He suffered from tinnitus. Unable to deal with the constant hustle and bustle of the city, which had our family opt for a quieter life in the countryside. My mom made sure I got the authentic DC experience though. We made day or weekend trips to the "Imperial Core," often. A shared love for ballet, opera, jazz, and musical theatre was enriched by posh Americana at the Kennedy Centre. The famous Nutcracker prince was a continental soldier in a tricorn hat. Amidst rides to school in his ruby red Chevy Silverado, aptly named, "Big Red," we listened to CDs of Elvis, Santana, and the Eagles. My childhood was one of constant cultural enrichment. So where did I encounter Rainbow Six? Well, my introduction to the license wasn't really through the games, as much as it was through Tom Clancy's golden years of "airport thriller" novels. Tom had a knack for writing stories along the "average shmuck has to save the world," sort of trope. For instance, gigachad Chris Pine, was just not the guy for Jack Ryan. Literal guy who played an office worker John Krasinski was. I didn't think much of this stuff as a teenager. The resolute Russian submariner played by Sean Connery in Hunt for Red October was just a cool dude. As an adult I'd learn of very real stories where real people would make daring escapes from the Soviet Union, like a pilot who landed his fighter jet at a small airport in a sleepy Japanese town. The "gun shootbang!1" part wasn't what intrigued us. Yes, we watched Die Hard at Christmas once, but we usually watched White Christmas. There was a certain level of corny and suspension of disbelief that gave some degree of separation. Realism was reserved for "good" art that actually said something. When my mother wasn't home, we would watch kung-fu and samurai movies that were totally badass, but my father had a reserved, somber "respect" (not respect in the admiring sense of the word) for warfare and combat. The good guys had to triumph over the bad guys, and if they didn't, there had better be a damn good lesson involved in it. He detested "bad endings" for the dramatic sake of them. He would have hated Game of Thrones. Dad left us drawings of 18th century ships, racecars, abandoned train stations in the old south, and many other things. He didn't leave us drawings of warriors. Which brings me back to Siege. Somewhere around 2021, the rotten tentacles of the culture war, enhanced by the sensationalized nature of algorithmic entertainment, started to penetrate the pop culture landscape. I don't think Siege has been immune. Many years later, Rainbow Six Siege is still nagged about its "loss of identity," like it had some kind of uniquely gunshootbang identity as it existed in 2015. However, the only thing that was "realistic" about that game was the relative realism of its look. Relative doing a lot of heavy lifting. The FBI and SAS uniforms were decades out of date. The operational jurisdiction of the organization was not explained very well. The White Masks were made generic as possible to give Ubisoft plausible deniability of "endorsing" any kind of wackjob ideology in case an idiot wanted to accuse them of doing so. Or another idiot wanted to emulate it cause it was "based." Mechanical game design is another point. Rather than contextualizing the "TDM meta" as a product of the sandbox's tweaking -- as it relates to gadgets. It is "Overwatch of Duty," not because it has ADS, or "run and gun" design. It's "arcadey" because it has pizza Mozzie. The existence of Pickle Rick denotes "fast." And "fast" = dumb arcade game for kids. You can accurately guess my periods of impatience or downright rudeness on the game's history on these points. Rather than being allowed to move on from its shaky history with the "esports arc," Rainbow Six can shoot off their own character responsible for the idea on screen and never be allowed to move on. While a lot of the arguments are made in good faith, a lot of them are not. I think the reason for this ultimately comes down to a demand to prescribe specific opinions to the late Tom Clancy. To me Tom Clancy's personal beliefs are irrelevant. I'm also not an idiot. I understand that the man was a staunch conservative. But I also know that he was a devout Catholic. My father wasn't a Catholic, but he was a devout man as well. And on his deathbed, he still had enough energy to talk shit about Vladimir Putin. The political landscape of Tom's time and my father's time is not the same as today. I think a story that really exemplifies how crazy it's gotten is the proven case of Tim Pool & Co. and their idiotic situation. I don't know what Tom Clancy would think of former Secret Service agent Dan Bongino playing defense for potentially being compromised by Russian intelligence, but I can take a wild fucking guess, and I don't think it would be very charitable to people who are sycophantic to the Russian Federation. I believe the United States and her allies are in the midst of a very real and new Cold War, where algorithmic entertainment has been leveraged as a pivot point to stir the pot and get people to fling mud at each other. Rainbow Six is no different to me. I'm sick and tired of arguing about ADS speed. Like yes I think ADS speed is important, but me personally, as a human being, on planet Earth, in this universe, I am afraid I am all out of arguing about ADS speed juice. My interests have moved on beyond gaming. I'm never going to really leave gaming behind. But you can probably see it on G's Gaming Experience. When I'm talking about interesting pop culture connections with Siege, the video is engaging and fun to watch. When I yap about IS SIEGE DEA?D!?/! it gets views, people leave a comment like "it was ruined b y pro leaegue" I want to throw my computer out the window for the 3 hours that I'm working on it. I am bored. I am done with these arguments. I can't singlehandedly fix Siege, and it's not my responsibility to do so. That is Ubisoft's responsibility. I think they are doing the best they can. Sadly, the algorithmic sloprot of the gaming landscape has made it impossible to talk about a lot of these things in good faith. Concord didn't bomb because corporate couldn't stop fucking with the artistic vision for the game, which, per what's been seen on Twitter, seemed more like a Cowboy Bebop meets Guardians of the Galaxy that would have been pretty damn cool. No, Concord bombed because of "woke." It's exhausting. I think there's a lot more to life than yapping about game balancing for the 50th video in a row. Did I have a good time with it? Sure. Did it pay the bills? Yeah! Contrary to popular belief. No matter what anybody wants to think, I never defaulted on any debts. I pay my shit on time, my credit score's good. I have options. I have job applications in the water. But the truth is I'd like to do something that isn't just gamer yap. Now that it's positioned like a hobby again, that gives me a welcome opportunity to try. To that end I'm considering doing more write-ups like this one on X on whatever topic suits my fancy. I also have some ideas for G's Gaming Experience, but once again, like in high school. These are videos and artistic pursuits I can do because I want to. My move from Texas has been a rollercoaster, and has certainly interrupted my content. But it hasn't removed my passion for the arts. If anything, reacquainting myself with my roots has given me new motivation. It's made me realize who I am. I was a patriot before I figured out I was trans. I still am. Some might find that an oxymoron. I don't care. I'm the only girl like me. And I know how I can help. Just gotta get my foot in the door, whether that's online or somewhere else. But I don't think I'll ever completely walk away from content. I think we're just getting started.
