I would also argue that it is perfectly fine if art is not fun. And frankly, I wish more artists just straight up did not care about things being “enjoyable.” Also, surely “cerebral” is relative? You can turn any engagement with art into an opportunity for deeper reflection.

It is silly imo to think that art is no longer fun when it requires work or is challenging. So much stuff in life is fun because you have to take some time to become better at it. Sports, cooking, video games, researching any topic at length, idk… literally everything?
