After deep reflection, I have taken the difficult decision to withdraw from the FIDE Women’s Candidates Tournament. No event, no matter how important, can come before personal safety and well-being. Chennai Auto guys are the worst. Every time we book rapido or ola, everytime they call and charge an unreasonable extra amount. Never seen this happen this often in any other city. In Chennai its all the time.

I am with @LauraLoomer on this. It takes a certain amount of courage to acknowledge that some of your remarks were indeed problematic and to apologise for them. She has now clarified her position, expressed regret, and made it clear that she holds no hostility towards Hindus. At this point, it is wiser to close the chapter rather than keep inflaming it. Also, she is an invited guest in India. In Hindu culture, we believe in Atithi Devo Bhava, the idea that a guest is to be treated with respect, even when we disagree with them. That principle should guide how we respond. Dragging this endlessly will only allow bad actors to hijack the narrative and blur distinctions that should remain clear. Since Loomer has addressed the issue and clarified her stance, it is only sensible to accept the apology and move on.

why are police officials so heartless? One of my business friends runs a fairly well known restaurant in #VimanNagar. The @PuneCityPolice SI from the Viman Nagar Police Station keep calling him, saying there is a complaint against him. Every time he goes there, they make him and his 75 year-old mother wait for hours. Eventually they just ask them to leave because the complainant “couldn’t turn up.” This has been happening repeatedly for the past 4 days. This is exactly the kind of harassment that makes many hardworking Indians seriously consider moving out of the country. It’s extremely frustrating to see citizens treated like this. @CPPuneCity @CMOMaharashtra you guys are taking salary for free?
