Political parties overseas can be straight-up confusing. If you see a Japanese person trashing the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), they are NOT your friend. The LDP is the conservative, Japanese nationalist party that elected Sanae Takaichi as Prime Minister.
If any Japanese folks want to chime in on the other parties, please do so, I just wanted to clear it up that the LDP is NOT a progressive party even though the name might make it sound like one.

Americans seem to think PM Takaichi is conservative, but here she is promoting LGBT studies for children.
The more I find out about her the more I realize she is not at all what is being portrayed to conservatives in the US.
