@AdamOrecchio Don’t know if the shot ever translates but I think at the very least he’s a guy who can absolutely change and lead a culture.
I think he’ll be able to guard multiple positions well defensively and be able to work as an interior/short mid range scorer. Passing is positive too

@bleedjetsgreen @erikslater_ All you can do is play the odds. The hawks and mavs have won the lottery, but the other three play in teams in each season didn’t and had very low picks.
It’s the surest (but not only) way to get young, high-end talent that can help build a sustainable winner

Hawks made play-in and won lottery. And even with the 1st pick Risacher, taken 1st, there’s no guarantees even If you do get lucky, that the pick will work out. It’s a way shittier league today than it used to be.

@dqnets @erikslater_ I loathe the tanking idea. I think it’s stupid. It’s no guarantee. Far from it.
And NBA will lose a fair amount of fans because of it. Baseball, football and hockey don’t have “load management”. That’s NBA. Weakens the product.
But, maybe some fans like it.

A major point of tanking with flattened odds is to raise the floor of the pick’s value.
