This will be my first semester teaching where students have ready access to AI to help write papers. I don't want to forbid that; it's unrealistic and arguably counterproductive. Any suggestions about the best way to deal with it?

@matthewbowker @DrHughHarvey This is really interesting, as a real world example of how we need to address the clinician-AI-patient(or in this case other clinician) interaction for augmented decision making. Imagine patients in that situation. ‘Computer says you have cancer but I don’t agree…’

@DrHughHarvey Knowledge synthesis. Effectively the next level of blooms taxonomy for search. Not it’s not very accurate, but neither was google in 2001.

If you are working on AI and bias/fairness in medicine, consider joining our AI-vengers group which is a multi institution collaborative team that meets biweekly. This is the group behind this paper - sciencedirect.com/science/articl… This week we will be discussing three papers.

@mark_matson @Liv_Lanes @smsunarto Sure. Don’t teach them all how to DO calculus, but tell them why it matters and what impact it has on their lives. Some will choose to dig deeper into the math, but everyone could appreciate the core idea.. How do things change? That’s pretty fundamental stuff.

@drmikenix @Liv_Lanes @smsunarto But how does calculus help a regular person understand any of this? Do you expect everyone to learn backpropagation? Of course not. People overvalue their own expertise.

It perplexes me that calculus is "advanced math" in the US and people are debating whether it should be a part of the curriculum at all im from a 3rd world country and we just call it math there lol
