In reality what would actually happen is a scramble for influence throughout the continent, Europe would find itself divided into 4 different spheres. The European sphere (nations that want the continent to chart its own path) The American sphere (nations that would want to stay aligned with America) The Chinese sphere (nations that would be economically dependent on China) And the Russian sphere (nations that would find themselves invaded, harassed or forced into neutrality by Russia) It wouldn't be a very good time to be European federalist I can say that much lmao

my biggest surprise is that nobody takes Trump's threats seriously when he tells them he has a problem. Anthropic, Maduro, Iran, and now Europe/NATO just assume Trump is posturing when he gives them an ultimatum (the threat to leave or renegotiate NATO).

What are long time allies in Europe are doing is causing more damage to our relationship than anything Trump has ever done. They are turning people like me, who has argued that our alliance is important despite our differences, against them. We didn’t ask them to fight with us, we asked to use our bases they host. If they cannot allow the bare minimum then what is the alliance even good for?
