I’m a professional botanist. My field of work has low diversity, laps up privilege & flirts with discrimination. We need change not just for inclusion but for conservation. If anyone from a non-white/non-middle class background wants botanical mentorship please get in touch.

With continued dry and warm weather, the risk of #fires is high. Heading outdoors this weekend? 🔥 Don't light fires or fireworks 🍔Take a picnic instead of having BBQs 📞 If you see a fire unattended, get to a safe place and call 999 📷 @HantsIOW_fire #CountrysideCode

Keeping dogs on leads in the countryside protects thousands of livestock vital to our rural economy. ✅ Please make sure your dog is on the lead, in sight and under control this spring. Follow the #CountrysideCode for more: countrysidecode.org #RespectProtectEnjoy

Some people have been asking why at “only” 100 years old Coton Orchard is being called “ancient”. Steve Oram @PTES #Biodiversity Officer walks along the proposed C2C busway path & explains what makes traditional orchards an irreplaceable habitat #SaveCotonOrchard 🍎🍐🌳🚌❌

Disturbance from dogs is a real problem for farmers. At this time of year pregnant sheep can miscarry their lambs when they're stressed. Please: 🐕 Keep dogs on a short lead 🐑 Give sheep space ❗ Remain calm around livestock Share to spread the word #RespectProtectEnjoy

Two gorgeous Exmoor ponies & an 🚨important request🚨 Meet Clint & Odin – part of a herd doing very important conservation grazing for us at Drumburgh Moss Nature Reserve. This is an effective and natural way of promoting biodiversity. Unfortunately, (1/5)

This beautiful pony has died from laminitis as a result of unsuitable feeding. Please, if you encounter horses, never ever feed them. Their stomachs are complicated and delicate and "just one treat" can do a lot of harm (especially as you won't be the only person doing it). 💔
Ruth Chamberlain@RuthOnTheHoof

Stunning #HighlandPony 🐴 Sadly a photographer feeds him & friends to get them to perform for photos (with paying guests) despite owners begging to stop. Pls spread the word - do not feed ANY horse without permission. We don’t have wild horses in the UK either so it’s no excuse

My first visit to @RSPBMinsmere today. Highlights for me were 2 Bitterns, and Marsh Harriers viewed from Bittern hide. Also, Avocets out on West scrape.

@Warkworthbirder Me too! My grandad had a copy of that book and I would draw copies of the birds from it.

World book day. This is where it started for me. A masterpiece. I think I knew every word and copied most of the pictures as a kid. So pleased my parents had this book. If not ...? So important to have books. pic.twitter.com/1sk3dH3JYj
