In the sleeper coach of train 12510 from Guwahati to Bengaluru, a vendor was selling fruit cake. A passenger picked one, but the vendor asked for ₹50 even though the MRP was ₹40.
When questioned, the vendor said there was a ₹10 service charge for delivering it to the seat. The passenger refused and asked for the bill at MRP.
The vendor then gave another excuse, saying he had a family to support, so he charges extra. The passenger replied that vendors already get paid and warned he would complain to IRCTC.
Still, the vendor refused to sell at MRP and insisted on ₹50.
Such overcharging in trains is becoming common these days. The authorities should take strict action to stop this.
