It’s interesting that our only focus seems to be on what 97 will decide to do, whether that’s this summer or next or whenever. And it’s obviously because he only has a 2-year deal. But I mean, nothing is stopping Leon Draisaitl from asking out one day if that’s what he wanted. Not saying he will nor do I have any feeling he will. But just because he signed an 8-year deal doesn’t mean he will necessarily play it out all in Edmonton.

@elksherd Bowman was on the job for like 2 weeks and had Jackson and Co. In his ears influencing whether to match or not. He probably didn’t even get to make the decision tbh. Jackson clearly didn’t want them based on his GM’ing until that point.

I don’t get this argument and I’ve seen it so many times. Bowman was in the GM chair and decided not to match.
He may not be at fault for not getting a contract done in season, but he was the guy who chose not to match.

David Pagnotta on The Sheet Podcast this morning says the Oilers are once again looking to fix the goaltending. He’s also hearing they could move Darnell Nurse to shake up the blue line, target a speedy top six winger, and possibly make a coaching change. That decision could ultimately come down to ownership.
