An easier alternative to a golf ball rollback would to have tee height restrictions on certain courses / holes. Driver going to far on the 13th? Try limiting the tee height to 1.5 inches. Still going too far? Try no tees. If you can hit a driver off the deck on the 13th at Augusta and not get into trouble then you deserve an easier approach. As far as approach shots go who cares if you hit a 6 iron or a 9 iron from 200 yards. If you get it close it's impressive regardless. The experiment would cost you all of $0 and you get the best of both worlds
