Logic’s new project The Ballad of Rooster Jenkins is part-concept album, part-radio play about a runaway slave narrated by Morgan Freeman I absolutely fell in love with the narrative/story encapsulated in this project and the extensive skits truly painted a vivid picture of exactly what Logic was attempting to portray The music itself is undeniably some of Logic’s strongest and most conscious work in years. Great subject matter along with a dedication to the greater concept at hand and a clear executed vision I can understand the complaints about re-used verses, beats, and even songs throughout. My perspective is that Logic allowed us to hear his demos for this years ago through Discord, and explicitly marketed them as just that…demos I’ve heard countless projects early from countless artists and they re-use the same kind of content before a final version is officially out. Every artist who cares about perfecting something does this. Logic was doing it before we heard early leaks for under pressure and incredible true story too…we just never heard it. Get mad he released the demos early, but don’t get mad he used demos for their literal intended purpose That being said I didn’t really overplay the Discord tracks so most of this is more or less new to me, so trust I do get what some are saying who maybe have lived w these tracks for years atp I will say tho, the AI cover art is a horrible look imo All together I’m really glad this project saw the light of day after all these years and I’ll be returning to most of the tracks on here for a while to come. That outro is absolutely phenominal btw, a great look into Logic’s current career mind state as well as masterfully closing out the project’s concept Good work @Logic301
