We just performed the first Atomic Swap between Cardano and Bitcoin in Mainnet. This means native BTC was traded for native ADA. 0.0001 $BTC swapped for 50 $ADA Bitcoin is on Cardano 🧡 ↔ 💙

For nearly a decade, Cardano has been one of the largest, most reliable, and secure blockchains, with zero downtime since its launch in 2017. Cardano runs on eUTXO, an extension of Bitcoin’s UTXO accounting model, with native programmability. Transactions execute in parallel. Multiple assets settle in a single transaction. Fees are known before you submit. Smart contract outcomes are deterministic at the protocol level. There are no failed transactions that eat fees. What you model is what executes. Cardano also handles tokens differently. Native Assets inherit the same properties as ADA itself, secured directly at the ledger level. No ERC-20 style smart contracts sit between users and their tokens. Given these architectural differences from EVM chains, a major limitation has always been connectivity: Cardano didn’t speak the same language as the rest of crypto.

We are sold KYC, AML and surveillance as protection, while the Bank of England moves to restrict 'unhosted wallets' to keep activity within intermediated systems in the name of stability and control. These rules do little to curb illicit flows but expand data collection, erode privacy, impose costs, and add friction and limit access through banks and intermediaries. Self custody removes that layer entirely, exposing the limits of that approach. When policymakers shaping these rules have never used a wallet or sent a transaction, that gap in understanding gets written into policy. What’s being sold as protection is harm. Further context in the articles below. @FreddieNew @RoxomTV

@EdnStuff I partially disagree since liquid staking can still be decentralized so the model isn’t the problem. But Cardano does offer a unique solution.

The Cardano network fundamentally relies on a single primary node implementation, known as the cardano-node, developed in Haskell by IOG. This reliance on a single codebase creates a "monoculture" that represents a potential central point of failure or security risk.

Algorand Foundation lays off a quarter of its staff. This is important context for #Cardano $ADA treasury spending. We must be very thoughtful now. 👇 Crypto is not the shiny new thing anymore and is facing a difficult period as many companies are pivoting to AI. GitHub commits are falling and the communities that still have developers have dwindling userbases. Data from Electric Capital and Artemis showing a 75% drop in weekly crypto code commits (from 850,000 to 210,000) and a 56% decline in active developers (from 8,700 to 4,600) since early 2025, attributing this to VC migration toward AI. Messari's recent announcement of a strategic pivot to AI, with CEO Eric Turner stepping down to align with evolving market demands, is another example. Blockchain is ultimately a "trust machine" and can be a bulwark against AI's trust-eroding effects. Cardano has unique strengths from bitcoin defi, which we are uniquely suited for to genuinely useful products and services via @MidnightNtwrk and the very needed lending and finance services @realfi_co are set to provide and are ideal for bear markets. We must act and spend accordingly as one community.

Algorand Foundation@AlgoFoundation

Today, the Algorand Foundation made the difficult decision to reduce our workforce by 25%. This decision was not taken lightly and is in response to the uncertain global macro environment as well as the broader downturn in crypto markets. These employees have been best-in-class contributors to this ecosystem and to the Foundation, and this was an incredibly tough decision. We are sincerely grateful to them, and we are, of course, committed to supporting them through this transition. We believe that we now have a more sustainable alignment of Algorand Foundation resources with the protocol’s long-term business, technology, and ecosystem priorities. We remain fully focused on our mission of financial empowerment and the continued development and growth of the Algorand protocol, network, and ecosystem.

A minimum-viable @Shield_USD contract has been deployed to the Midnight preview environment. Right now, the constraints on contract size are limiting what we can do and requires a lot of consolidation transactions. Breaking News Cardano (ADA) has now been formally detailed by the SEC as a digital commodity, not a security today. It is written directly into the Commission’s latest interpretive release. (Released Today) A digital commodity is an asset that derives its value from the programmatic operation of a functional crypto system, not from the expectation of profits driven by the efforts of others. ADA is listed alongside Bitcoin and Ethereum under that classification.

RETIRE YOUR DREP No statement, no pause, no "we are doing it for you", not for security and other every possible excuse RETIRE YOUR DREP You have forced the majority of people to delegate on your own DRep with the shittiest ux/ui i ever see... rETIRE YOUR DREP @emurgo_io
Yoroi W₳llet@YoroiWallet

A note to the Cardano community on DRep delegation in Yoroi. Following our CEO @phillip_pon's statement, we intend to make the following changes to Yoroi: ⏸️ Pausing to Get it Right We will pause DRep delegation within Yoroi. We want to ensure that when you choose a representative, you are doing so with total clarity. This pause will remain in place until we can roll out a more neutral platform for Cardano Governance. This will ensure Yoroi does not continue to grow in DRep voting power until a more balanced delegation process is in place. 🏛️ Building a Governance Hub Looking further out, our goal is to develop a robust governance centre. We want this to be more than just a menu option. We’re envisioning a go-to space for the community to stay informed and active in the ecosystem, regardless of technical background. 🛡️ Safety First, Progress Fast The DRep discovery tool is our immediate priority. With valuable contributions from @Cerkoryn on GitHub, we’re hopeful we can ship these changes quickly. As always, safety and security remain our number one priority. Please keep in mind that once the update is ready, we’re subject to Apple and Google Store review timelines before it reaches your device. We will keep you posted as we move forward.

Cardano governance system is facing several challenges right now, but in many ways that’s inevitable. No other chain has really handed governance power to the community to this extent. If we navigate this period well, it could prove that Cardano can build a stronger, more mature governance system. I’ll continue speaking up and being part of that process.

I think Cardano is the only chain where ordinary people can set up and run a validator (stake pool) easily, at low cost, without strict barriers to participation, and receive delegation from the community. Just look at the Cardano staking pool list. Unlike $ETH, $SUI, or #SOL, block production isn’t dominated by a small group of professional infrastructure operators who run validators across multiple major chains. In my view, the true foundation of decentralization in a network starts right there.
vitalik.eth@VitalikButerin

We should be open to revisiting whole beacon/execution client separation thing. Running two daemons and getting them to talk to each other is far more difficult than running one daemon. Our goal is to make the self-sovereign way of using ethereum have good UX. In many cases that means running your own node. The current approach to running your own node adds needless complexity. Short-term, maybe we want some more standardized basic wrapper that lets you install dockers of any client and make them talk to each other easily? Also good that @ethnimbus unified node github.com/status-im/nimb… exists. Longer term, we should be open to revisiting the whole architecture once @leanethereum lean consensus is more mature.

Ignoring the @YoroiWallet and @emurgo_io issue is essentially the same as enabling their behavior. Any dApp or major infrastructure provider with a large user base could increase their governance delegation the same way Yoroi did. In fact, Yoroi’s delegated stake is already continuing to grow through manipulative UI/UX. If this behavior isn’t called out and stopped, it will effectively encourage many defi platforms, wallets, and governance services that already have large user bases to push users toward increasing their governance delegation in the same way. Without strong criticism and resistance from the community, a second Yoroi will inevitably emerge, and others will shamelessly use governance power for their own private interests. In other words, tolerating Yoroi’s behavior will open the door for other major services and infrastructure providers to secure governance delegation through the same tactics. Ultimately, this could turn Cardano governance into a system dominated by a small number of organizations pursuing their own interests. If governance collapses, it could end up like EOS, a system that primarily serves the financial interests of a few organizations. This won’t happen overnight, but gradually and irreversibly over time. Until they take appropriate action, the community needs to keep speaking up and proposing different solutions.

Prohibition didn't stop drinking. It created the mafia. The war on drugs didn't stop drug use. It filled prisons and funded cartels. Banning encryption won't stop secrets. It'll just make criminals out of citizens. This is the oldest pattern in civilization: ban a fundamental human behavior and watch it go underground. The behavior doesn't disappear. It just becomes dangerous, unregulated, and controlled by the worst people instead of the best. Privacy is a fundamental behavior. People have always whispered. Always kept things from others. Always kept parts of their lives separate from other parts. This isn't deviance, it's architecture. The human psyche requires rooms with doors. When governments push to ban strong encryption, mandate backdoors, or outlaw privacy tools, they're not preventing crime. They're creating a world where only criminals have privacy because criminals don't follow bans. Law-abiding people surrender their encryption keys. Criminals don't. Law-abiding people use KYC exchanges. Criminals don't. Law-abiding people comply. Criminals route around. The result? The people who need privacy most - journalists, dissidents, abuse survivors, activists - lose it. The people doing actual harm were never using compliant systems anyway. Every privacy ban is a prohibition. And every prohibition creates the exact underworld it claimed to prevent. The alternative: build privacy into infrastructure so well that it's not a choice. Not a political stance. Not suspicious behavior. Just how the system works. The way cash always worked.
