Jay is NOT saying what Cole said. Jay still loves the aspect of sparring. Its the weird/fake moral posturing, the overintellectualizing, the fandom and how the battle descended into this space where ppl abandoned reason/logic just because they liked one artist over the other.

Jay-Z on the 2024 back-and-forth between Kendrick Lamar and Drake: “We’ve just grown so much that — I guess I’m going to say it — I don’t know if battling needs to be a part of the culture anymore.” gq.visitlink.me/xAeZjl

This ain't it big dawg. The reason for the push back is you're focusing on the wrong folks to humanize. Focus on the downtrodden, the forgotten, the actual victims of these ppl rather than these evil folks. That's what God/Jesus/Allah would do. We want to see you keep winning.

In 1971, 23-year-old Margaret Aghomo only had a guitar and a dream: to form her own band and break the male monopoly of popular music in Nigeria. A singer and guitarist, she had already sharpened her craft in Kano, Benin, and Onitsha, taking lessons and performing with local bands. Later in her career, Aghomo would lead The Originators, an all-women band that marked a rare sight in the industry. She was among the pioneering set of women to play and sing highlife publicly, blending it with rumba and pop in a voice that held its own.

Learning that to chase says - "its not within my reach, I don't have it yet" which = lack. Whereas Rest says, "its already in me - I have it & embody it" which = Abundance. Selah.

Black-owned bookstores in the U.S. now have their own directory for the first time ever, launched by the nonprofit National Association of Black Bookstores — who found that: • There are 306 Black-owned bookstores nationwide (8% of independent bookstores) • 14 states have no Black-owned bookstore • Nearly 90% report annual revenue at under $250,000 • Sales of books by Black authors declined by 14%, despite an increase in overall print sales Check out the directory: nab2.org/state-of-black…

My thoughts exactly. These terms at one point or the other were despised by the artists who were classed as such and were often coined for the explicit purpose of marketing. No wrong or right. Also understandable that some didn't want to be called this or that type of artist.
Stereo Williams@BeyondTheMemes

Nina Simone didn’t like the term “soul music.” Miles Davis hated being called “jazz.” Even the term “R&B” has a loaded history. But I think all of those terms have validity. Even while acknowledging and understanding why artists might feel stifled by them.

We are saddened to announce the passing of Bob Power, legendary engineer, producer & musician whose work help defined hip‑hop & R&B. From A Tribe Called Quest & De La Soul to The Roots, Erykah Badu, D’Angelo, his influence shaped generations. A mentor & teacher at NYU’s Clive Davis Institute, Bob inspired countless artists & engineers. More than an engineer, he was a bridge between worlds blending technical mastery with soul & rhythm. His legacy echoes in every beat, every mix. Rest easy, Bob 🕊
