Apr10,1971 Brewer & Shipley peak at #10 on the billboard Hot100 Singles Chart with "One Toke Over The Line" written by Mike Brewer and Tom Shipley. Brewer and Shipley says toke meant token as in ticket. Later Brewer says, one day we were pretty much stoned and all and Tom says, Man, I'm one toke over the line tonight. I liked the way that sounded and so I wrote a song around it
