What’s happening in Minnesota is appalling—and unacceptable in any American city. Democrats sought common sense reforms in the Department of Homeland Security spending bill, but because of Republicans’ refusal to stand up to President Trump, the DHS bill is woefully inadequate to rein in the abuses of ICE. I will vote no. Senate Democrats will not provide the votes to proceed to the appropriations bill if the DHS funding bill is included.

So right.

Stop ICE.

We are witnessing unacceptable violations of Americans’ safety, rights, and freedoms. No one should accept this. 

The violence must stop.

Michiganders stand with Minnesotans as they exercise their First Amendment right to protest and make their voices heard peacefully.

What’s happening in Minnesota is waking up the whole country. People don’t see justice or fairness, and doubling down isn’t going to work. It’s tearing the country apart.

This is the grim, depressing reality Trump has made of American life. Instead of waking up on a Saturday, relaxing and spending time with your loved ones, you now have to watch American towns being ravaged and its citizens being murdered by violent secret police.

Local police no longer able to do their work. Kids hiding. Schools closed. Get ICE out of Minnesota NOW. And Republicans in congress: Stop your silence and stop being complicit.

The Senate should reject the DHS funding bill next week until significant reforms are added to the bill. We need a complete overhaul before more people are needlessly killed. (4/4)
