Anti-tagging defense goes up outside the future Sephora at St. Mark’s Place and 3rd Ave in the East Village. The signage arrived in February and was quickly tagged… so building management installed barricades to protect the next round. 1st 2 pics by @unitof

Someone swiped the commemorative plaque honoring Jean-Michel Basquiat outside his former Great Jones Street home. @GVSHP says it appears to be another theft in the recent rash of stolen bronze plaques around the neighborhood.

The East Village is remembering Stella Soltowska of Ray’s Candy Store (113 Avenue A). Stella, who worked at Ray’s for nearly 50 years, died last week at age 80. There's now a small memorial outside the shop. 📷 @Joy_of_photos
