Where others sensed quiet ground, Kei felt crowding, as if many faint voices were pressed together beneath the soil. On a scarred ridge, he found no relic, only warm clay that responded to his touch. When shaped in his hands, the clay seemed relieved, almost grateful. Unbeknownst to Kei, he had uncovered spirit clay, soil infused with fragments of souls shattered long ago. He carried it home and shaped a simple pot. The clay pulsed softly, guided by care rather than ritual. Without knowing it, Kei had taken the first step toward what would one day be called Golemry.
