Hands grip the bow tighter to contradict her shaking arms. Brown eyes threaten, the piercing headache ebbing into her skull told her what it was as she watched like a frightened child as her mother was gripped by the thralls of prophecy. She felt 6 years old again,

Tis was the fate of all demigods. She'd accepred as much through the plagues of visions and monster attacks. She'd nearly been killed once if her seeker hadnt found her just in time. Daphne never counts on making it to 18.

She could hardly remember seeing her mother lucid, those moments had become so rare by the time she was old enough to commit them to memory. She hardly knew the woman her mother had been. Daphne tensed, like a frightened animal

She'd thought she left this place for good half a decade ago, resigned herself to the fact that in her mothers delirium she only knew of one child, the boy she'd lamented the fate of since long before Daphne was born. She'd grown since then,

Her blood fell cold, eyes shooting open with that one word. She stood, hands pressed against the table, trembling as she gripped onto it like a lifeline. She never thought she'd hear her name fall from her mothers voice again. She resented the woman.. so why- "Mama?"

She remembered years of watching her fall into this rhythm, the descent into what she was today. Her gaze downcast, fingers tightening on the napkin as the woman she'd grown to loathe spoke. She contemplated if she should speak. Why was she still here? Would she know her voice?

A napkin balled in her fist as she sat at the kitchen table, breaking up the charred remains of what was once a chocolate chip cookie into a fine black powder as she breathed in the familiar smoke. Why was she still here? She'd only come back to pick up her things..
