Israeli-founded companies have created nearly 30,000 jobs in New York and added $12.4 billion to the city’s economy. That’s according to a report released yesterday by the United States-Israel Business Alliance, which also estimated that the 590 companies have indirectly supported over 50,000 jobs, generated over $8 billion in total earnings, and added nearly $20 billion to New York City’s gross economic output. As for the nearly 30,000 jobs they directly created, their average income is over $160,000. It’s unclear how this will be impacted if Zohran Mamdani becomes the city’s next mayor, but to paraphrase Aaron Kaplowitz, president of the business alliance, one thing is clear: Israeli innovation is indispensable to New York — and, I’d add, to the world.
