Impossible not to cry writing this...
I have some sad news.
This morning, our golden retriever, Winston, passed away.
Every morning for 10 years, I have woken up to his happy, smiling, excited face.
And tomorrow morning... I won't.
I got Winston as a sad, lonely, depressed, single man...
...and 10 years later he died knowing me as a happy, married, father.
I think the best I can do is just say thank you.
Thank you for the ten years of pure joy and love.
Thank you for the mornings.
Thank you for the walks.
Thank you for the loyalty I didn’t deserve yet.
Thank you for staying close when I was hard to be around.
Thank you for believing I was worth coming back to.
Thank you for loving my wife and my kids.
I will miss you in ways I can’t explain to anyone who hasn’t had a dog save their life without ever saying a word.
You did your job.
You got me here.
You got me home.
I'll miss you, my dear friend ❤️

@RoyalMail - tracking for a 48 hr from 30th Dec says you cant deliver as inaccessible. CCTV shows NO ONE has attempted on 2 occasions, 2nd delivery requested to SafePlace, also did NOT attend. Newcastle under Lyme Office saying are scanning as attempted as behind on delivery!

@MatttttttSwann @skytv Tried to tell me it is an internal wiring issue. I suspect this is utter rubbish as I asked how they knew and no answer (live chat). No engineer until NYE. Getting no more than 1MB. Streaming impossible over Xmas.
Have asked if they throttling connections, had no response.

@skytv Fourth day of having the worst broadband on the planet. Any reasons or explanations as to why it’s dropping in and out as speaking to a human seems impossible when I ring customer services. Just endless automated messages and options.
Absolutely dog shit.

@SkySportsDarts Who on earth is commentating on the Littler v Davies?
The favouritism is PALPABLE for Davies. Commentary should not be like this! Littler has taken the first set and you would think he's down a set.
Dreadful.

@itspryce1 No. AJ did nothing until the 6th. Paul faffed around on the floor for two round. Ridiculous 'fight'.
English

Massive props to Jake, played his disadvantages and lasted until the 6th against a far more experienced, former world champ. Played a smart fight and in the end this fight made no sense anyway. Good for Jake no serious damage taken it was best case scenario. #JakeJoshua
English

#JakeJoshua give it to Jake Paul, 6 rounds with former world champion, honestly the fight is a Joke to boxing world. @netflix Nice show anyway., I think you will do better with EPL
English

@IBUILD01 Could have done that on round one and saved us all time.

@RoyalMail Do thank the delivery driver who left my parcel in this state...damaged with coconut milk everywhere.
Surely they noticed this- they took this photo!

My mom died this week. She was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer less than three weeks ago.
When she learned the aggressive tumor could not be treated, her wish was to not have a prolonged or painful death and to not die alone. She was able to pass quickly and it was peaceful at the very end. She asked for a back rub. “That feels nice” were her last words before she faded away.
I was there for her final breath, and so was my husband Lionel. I called friends my mom had known for 50 years and held the phone to her ear. I was able to tell her everything I needed to say and she did the same. I told her she was a good mom and that I loved her very much.
I’m glad we moved her from Michigan to Vacaville, California six years ago to be closer to me. She thrived in California and enjoyed having that adventure in her 70s. She met a lot of new friends in her senior apartment building and at her local congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.
She accepted Lionel as a son (and as her tech support). He had the patience to teach her how to use an iPad and make Zoom calls. The day before she died, my mom told Lionel she loved him and that she was happy we had each other.
My mom would have been 77 in December. She left us too soon, but I know her final years were filled with love and joy.
Mary Kaye did not have the easiest life. Her father died when she was 12. My father left her when she was six months pregnant. She did her best as a single mom with a high school education. She cleaned houses for a living and brought me along as daycare.
My grandmother (who was widowed at 48) supported us the best she could. Grandma only finished 9th grade and my mom decided to go to college. She waited until I was 10 and could handle being home alone (it was the free-range parenting era of the 1980s). She took night classes at the local community college — one class at a time. After 11 years, she finally received a bachelor’s degree at age 43.
She stopped cleaning houses and became a social worker. She helped some of the most vulnerable and invisible people: seniors with mental health conditions. She would lead field trips to the zoo or Taco Bell to give her clients fun and exciting experiences outside their group home.
My mom loved Shakespeare, mountains, and sunsets. She always had a dog to care for. She made a mean lasagne and a hearty crock pot beef stew with dumplings. Her oatmeal scotchie cookies were my favorite.
It’s a comfort to have her handwritten recipes. I’ll use them to keep her memory alive.

Cancelled my @DisneyPlus subscription. Comedians being allowed to highlight hypocrisy and take the piss, even if you disagree with them, is a sign of a functional democracy.

Disney didn’t pull Kimmel because of “standards” they caved because Trump’s FCC chair threatened their license, affiliates started panicking, and executives feared retaliation. That’s not accountability, that’s state-backed censorship. When corporations bend the knee to political power, it’s not “cancel culture.” It’s authoritarian control over speech.
English

Cancelled my @DisneyPlus account here in the UK. I refuse to fund a company that bows to an authoritarian.
US Political Satire seems to be the last bastion that IS questioning.
