The Lemurian assassin slips through your window without a sound but you feel the whaletail beacon grow warm and almost vibrate with some strange energy as he enters, “Does the princess still think of the beacon as some sort of wish granter…?” You meet his shadowed gaze. “I mean… you are here are not.” He pauses with a slight shake of his head, “Calling an assassin to one’s chambers every night. Does your highness have a death wish? Or does one wish to be caught by the maid this time?” Your shoulders sink, “Is being trapped not worse than death?” As for being caught you hear nothing in the hall but you speak in a tone barely above a whisper regardless. He freezes slightly before smoothly taking a seat beside you on the lounge near the window where you waited for him. You squeeze on the beacon once more and it must truly grant wishes because your unspoken desire for him to unmask without you having to do it is granted. “That’s not truly why you called for me… is it?” You shake your head. There are too many things you had not experienced yet to truly crave the sweet release of his blade. “Then tell me your highness, what is it you truly desire?” He whispers in your ear, his gloved hand covering yours where you are still tightly gripping the beacon to the point it’s indenting red welts into your palms. His breathe on your skin makes you body alight with some strange sensation, like tiny pins shooting across your skin. The flickering lamp light dances across his features, his eyes like a brilliant sunset… “I… want…” “Did you really summon me without an idea as to why princess? Surely— ” “Kiss me.” You interrupt and watch his eyes go wide. They flicker through many unfathomable emotions and there’s a slight pained look in his face that you assume means you will be granted refusal. But instead… a gloved hand firmly yet gently grips your chin and pulls you to him. Your lips meet. His are soft and smooth and taste of salt and something else foreign yet familiar. He lingers, deepening the kiss. Your heart pounds and you forget to breathe. As he kisses you, a strange sound fills your ears. Like the water in the canals but stronger and also oh so familiar but you cannot remember why. Your eyes flutter open as he finally pulls away and you remember to breathe once again, “Is that truly all… your highness?” There’s a slight flush to his cheeks and a huskiness in his tone you have never heard and you don’t know exactly what you want but you want more.
