And democracy requires compromise, even when you are 100 percent right...You can be completely right and you still are going to have to engage with folks who disagree with you. —Barack Obama

There is nothing worse than hyperbole! Old joke, but people here do use too much hyperbole! "Mamdani will literally destroy New York; millions will flee!" And if challenged, they say, "Hey, it was just hyperbole!" How about saying what you mean, precisely, accurately? It's far easier to communicate and debate if we are clear about our starting positions on issues.

Lucille Ball and marvelous John Hodiak #BOTD in a publicity photo for TWO SMART PEOPLE (1946). A photo of Ball in this costume is often posted on social media and mislabeled as the dress for her wedding to Desi Arnaz. In reality, she was wearing a tailored suit at her wedding. #classicstars

I’m standing inches away from Grant Wood’s “The Midnight Ride of Paul Revere” (1931) and it’s awesome. Nobody else in this room (the American Wing is always less crowded), just me and art. (Wood’s most famous painting is probably “American Gothic, found at The Art Institute of Chicago.) “Wood, in one of his best known paintings, presents the legendary story of the American patriot Paul Revere, inspired by the popular 1863 poem by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. In a bird's-eye view, the painting depicts Revere on horseback racing through a Massachusetts town square. The artist infused his historical subject matter, which spoke to the mid-twentieth-century fascination with the colonial past, with distinctive modern elements. The houses are overly bright, as if lit by electricity, and the dramatic moonlight casts unrealistic shadows, giving the painting a dreamlike quality that would have appealed to 1930s viewers.”
