The problem with the film business didn't start with the introduction of AI; it started with the reason people are introducing AI. And that reason is that we stopped prioritizing making great films, in favor of participating in streaming's Content Conveyor Belt. That's not the film business' DNA. We make films. We make great films. We take risks. We look at society, see what is missing, and fill those holes with films. We stopped doing that when we looked over at the tech companies, saw how much money they were making, and instead abandoned our own DNA (and financial structure) to "try to beat them at their own game." (We also decided to act like some corporation frightened of its customers, and started catering to the loudest people on social media and catering to their "causes.") That was a mistake. So, if you think you're called to the real film business, stop focusing on how others are pulling in AI to cover their neglect of filmmaking, and start pushing forward creatively. You're going to do wonderful things. If you're a film fan, start praying. Pray that God helps those who are trying to make great films for you. Because just talking caustically about "the business" or "Hollywood" does nothing but sour the thick waters we already have to swim through to get a film made. Pray for your own entertainment future. There are a lot of us who are dying to give it to you.
