Feel like people got it in their head that the people who make this show are only concerned with entertaining and pleasing people. These are artists making art and on some level it's on you to decide if you wanna meet the art where it is or not. If not, that's not a failure.

THIS! Ultimately, they’re not adapting TVL. They’re adapting the entire Vampire Chronicles & TVL & QotD are the primary blueprints for S3&4. They’re trying to put together a cohesive narrative for the whole series, not 1 book at a time, which would NEVER work considering how the

i think much more fun could be had if you guys looked at the books as puzzle pieces and the goal is to figure out the image the show is trying to portray instead of looking at them as a script that wasn't followed.

They are adapting the novels SO faithfully in spirit, but not plot point by plot point. The characters ARE the same, the situations are different. I think we really need to start judging TVL the series on its own merits.

has allowed me to easily separate the tv show from the novels. It’s not a 1:1 adaptation and it never has been. I feel like I’m taking crazy pills when book purists have so many gripes about it, like I thought we knew already?

Love being a TVC fan because I find it so satisfying to be able to pull the threads of the novels in the tv show, knowing endgame and seeing how the writers take us there. That being said, all the changes they made from the material in S1

every time i see a "must be so difficult to non book fans to understand the show" take i get so confused cause some of my friends (who know nothing about the lore/books) watch it and honestly their understanding of the narrative is sometimes better than of ppl from the fandom...
