I got married at the gorgeous Silcox Hut (one mile up Mt. Hood from the historic Timberline Lodge) because of my childhood love of all things winter and snow, fueled in no small part by the ways @IntoTheLongDark and its community has changed my life over the last three years. It’s incredibly reminiscent of iconic locations in the game like Trapper’s Cabin or Mountaineer’s Hut, all of which have become symbols of warmth, safety and comfort on the most perilous of journeys, as well as simple but awe-inspiring beauty in nature. In many ways it is as close as I could get in the physical world to what feels like home. When we arrived on the snowcat, my family wasn’t quite sure why I was so excited to see this watchful crow perched on the chimney welcoming us in. Nor was my Matron of Honor when I pointed frantically at the row of crampons displayed in the hallway and begged her to get a picture (wedding dresses don’t exactly allow for storing cell phones… and I forgot my moose hide satchel 😜). Thank you @RaphLife and @HinterlandGames for this amazing work of art you’ve created, and for being there on my special day… whether you knew it or not! 😉
