@NamiHeartilly @dutchfIowerz @jordanr @RatthewVT @kubaswift @Colgate …you thinking that it doesn’t affect the consumer’s perception of the product wouldn’t hold—unless the product is a necessity with little competition.
English

@NamiHeartilly @dutchfIowerz @jordanr @RatthewVT @kubaswift @Colgate Yes, I understood your answer but was pointing out that the question forms part of consumer behavior. That the question matters in consumer assessment of if a product is worth their while and
English

@NamiHeartilly @dutchfIowerz @jordanr @RatthewVT @kubaswift @Colgate I don’t care for the complexities within my example because what it addresses is *consumer behavior* regarding the presentation of a product. The point is that your consumer does not care about those complexities, only how the product represents THEIR needs and values.
English

@funky4lyf @dutchfIowerz @jordanr @RatthewVT @kubaswift @Colgate You're comparing apples to oranges. I shouldn't even have to explain how making a movie and making a trailer are way less far removed than making toothpaste and making an ad for it.
English

@dutchfIowerz @NamiHeartilly @jordanr @RatthewVT @kubaswift @Colgate When you see a horrible trailer for a movie, your immediate thought isn’t, “the people hired to make this trailer were just told what to do” because you understand that the trailer may represent the quality of the movie, no matter which department was involved in making it.
English

@dutchfIowerz @NamiHeartilly @jordanr @RatthewVT @kubaswift @Colgate And my argument is that consumers don’t care which department came up with a terrible ad/pitch. For a lot of them, a brand’s presentation of its product is representative of the product AND the whole company.
English

@NamiHeartilly @jordanr @dutchfIowerz @RatthewVT @kubaswift @Colgate If Colgate makes a subtly zionist ad, consumers won’t care if their branding department is separate from their ethics department. The distrust becomes reasonable to the consumer.
English

@NamiHeartilly @jordanr @dutchfIowerz @RatthewVT @kubaswift @Colgate You’re partly repeating my point about how consumer trust & product favorability is tied to what a brand puts out, and how very few consumers care to consider which department did what.
English

@odedia @Lanre__Laredo Stop using genAI. It churns out useless things. “nice job” my ass.
English

This is not why it was demonized by colonizers.
Etymological violence is a real facet of colonization. Your culture and knowledge systems are wiped out to make way for colonial assimilation .
Bear@Beargirl_1
African spirituality was demonized by colonizers because it was working against them
English

@NamiHeartilly @jordanr @dutchfIowerz @RatthewVT @kubaswift @Colgate Do you think consumers shrug and say, “Different departments”, when they see an ad or immediately tie their positive/negative feedback to their interest in the product?
English

@Black_D_Gamer1 The convenience of a “business decision” doesn’t immediately make it worthwhile. You spend money on good ads because you’re aware of the returns a mere memorable ad can generate.
An obvious GenAI ad generates distrust in lieu of a few irrelevant thousands saved.
English

That's why they're doing this. Why spend thousands on commercial artists, that'd take longer to create an ad, when they can generate one with the click of a button?
This is a business decision & many artists need to come to terms with it.

I am genuinely in shock. @Colgate is a $66 billion company.

They’ve got an ongoing class action lawsuit for substantial levels of lead in their kid-friendly toothpaste and now they’re advertising their bubblegum toothpaste with Gen AI.
