one of the highlights of #theotherbennetsister for me is whenever mary bennet takes a stand for herself. a refreshing take on her character coz she's often characterized as snobbish if not prudish in most p&p retellings.

@ninawmaah for me, Tom and Mary are kindred spirits who finally met each other after waiting for so long tbh why I prefer them.
but there's a tragedy in Ryder's fate coz if he only proposed properly the first time, Mary would have said yes. (the 2nd proposal parallel w darcy tho 👌🏼!)

@gabrambles I actually preferred Ryder over Hayward. Hayward was already engaged with another. Ryder, on the other hand, gave more effort to know and spend time with Mary. He was genuinely interested in knowing her without pushing it. Mary also looked at ease with him.

@brekkerology there's a scene that lingered in the post proposal where you can see he's already feeling regret and that he has lost her. if anything, mr ryder is so similar to his cousin darcy, who wanted to woo the woman back (parallel of second proposals), but alas Mary just isn't for him.
