Yesterday, Governor Brian Kemp, Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins, Administrator Kelly Loeffler, Speaker of the House Jon Burns & Agriculture Commissioner Tyler Harper joined rural members of the Georgia General Assembly for a roundtable discussion focusing on issues affecting farming families and rural communities across the state. The Georgia Peanut Commission was proud to attend and represent Georgia’s farmers at this event.

Once FFA, always FFA. 💙💛 Sara Ott, retail manager with Georgia Peanuts, was an active member of Colquitt County FFA from 2009–2014, where she proudly served as a chapter officer during her high school years. She was especially passionate about her livestock projects, with her favorite experiences coming from showing market hogs and lambs. One of her most memorable FFA experiences was attending the Washington Leadership Conference during the summer, where she developed leadership skills and built lasting connections with other FFA members from across the United States. She is standing with her grandfather, Bobby Griner, who was an active member of the Colquitt County FFA. Mr. Griner also helped establish the Georgia Young Farmers Association and served as the organization’s first vice president and second president.

Once FFA, always FFA. 💙💛 Dr. David West, Retired Georgia Young Farmer Advisor, worked with FFA members of three Georgia FFA Chapters for 30 years. He received his Honorary American FFA Degree in 2024 at the 97th National FFA Convention in recognition of his service to the FFA members of Georgia. Today, David coordinates the research and education programs of the Georgia Peanut Commission.

Once FFA, always FFA. 💙💛 Our Assistant Executive Director Joy Crosby was an active member of the Lowndes County FFA Chapter and served as Georgia State Vice President in 1992-93. While an FFA member, Joy showed livestock and competed in many CDE and leadership programs. She continued serving FFA by being a member of the FFA Alumni and serving Georgia FFA Alumni as president and the Southern Region Representative on the National FFA Alumni Council. This week her son's FFA jacket arrived as he begins his journey with FFA at Tiftarea Academy.
