@bbctms A sign outside Adelaide zoo that could be moved to outside the England dressing room. Beware of ducks.

@dicky_burgess Hi there, unfortunately a do not travel notice is in force on the Marches line between Shrewsbury and Hereford in both directions. The line is closed to trains. RRS services are now unable to run between these stations due to local roads flooding. I'm very sorry about this ^Holly

@MartinSLewis Rather than rebranding on absolute market value, why not put properties into deciles for the area so a relative banding. Makes new properties easier to place on the range and councils easier to compare.

Reports out that the govt hasn't ruled out ending the 25% single person council tax discount. Clearly this would be a painful hit for single adults and single parent families, but also 1) What about the similar reduction for Severe Medical Impairments? Someone with an SMI doesn't count for council tax purposes, so if as is common they live with another adult, there's an 25% reduction equivalent to the single person reduction. Surely they're not going to end the reduction for these vulnerable people too? 2) Substantial council tax changes shouldn't be done without a rebanding. Up to 400,000 homes are in the wrong band because we still rely in Eng & Scot on a stop-gap temporary valuation done in 1991 to dictate what bands people are in. If such a big change comes, surely there should be even more emphasis on ensuring that people are in the right band and not overpaying.

@ruskin147 On holiday in the SW and went into a Waitrose. Chose a check out queue. The man on the till was scanning items quite slowly. He asked me how I was doing then said "I think you've got what I've got". So had a nice chat about Parkinson's and left the shop feeling happy!

New sensory experiences “light up” your child’s developing brain. I just love this video, which has gone viral in recent days, of a toddler being exposed for the first time to a new and fascinating sound: a violin being played by a street performer in Valencia. It’s almost as if he’s drawn by a magnet to the sound and performer - joyfully waving his hands as he wobbles his way over to get a closer look. New sensory experiences activate the brain’s neural networks and help to create and strengthen their pathways. But I also want to spotlight something special the violinist does: Noticing her little admirer, she not only turns to face him, but crouches down to meet him at eye level - allowing him a better vantage point on the whole situation. Not only is this a strategy parents should employ as much as possible, but it’s a great marker of early childhood classroom quality. Looking for an amazing infant-toddler teacher? One really committed to optimizing your child’s early development? Be on the lookout for those who spend their days down on the floor, interacting directly with children face-to-face at eye level. This lovely interaction comes via reh_violin on TT.

A-level results. Please, mass media, explain to your readers/viewers how the slight changes in numbers who pass/fail/get top grades are 'norm-referenced' ie a combination of govt 'guidance' and exam board shuffling AFTER the exams have been marked.

@joharvey21 @UKHSA It's not that they don't want to know what's happening, it's that they want to not know. That is a strategy that could only come from the top.

@UKHSA You are only monitoring a small percentage of the data how can that help? When people test + at home you can’t enter the data. 🏥 doesn’t test you automatically and you are discouraging testing in the community with messages that it is all over. 🤡🤦‍♀️

As we continue to monitor data on new #COVID variants, both in the UK and internationally, our blog post "Should we be worried about the new COVID-19 variant?" explains the surveillance work we're doing to understand these new variants better. Read more: ukhsa.blog.gov.uk/2024/05/13/sho…

@MattEagles @RachelHorne19 The other aspect is the context of the petition being handed over. A more positive statement might have detracted from the message and a more accurate and nuanced message might not have been an effective soundbite for the media.

Hmmm Jeremy Paxman says Parkinson's "makes you wish you hadn't been born." Hate comparing neuro-diseases, but the TV presenter was diagnosed at 71. (Average onset age 60). MS - average diagnosis 30. Pivotal time re career, relationships & having children. bbc.co.uk/news/uk-687951…

@sossie_l Really interesting to see the range here. Makes me think the focus on dx date in case management is flawed. Also need to record dates of earliest symptoms and referral to specialist.

Help? Late-stage Parkinson's and finding the best care. I rarely share personal stuff these days but I'm casting the net out. This is new to us as a family and we just want the best for our loved-one. Have met some amazing NHS staff, but the processes are disjointed... 1/

Unforgivable for Sunak Govt to disrupt #CovidInquiry with Judicial Review to prevent release of Johnson Whatsapps/diaries. Govt set up Inquiry & must trust Baroness Hallett's judgement about what’s relevant & what’s published. A huge insult to bereaved, NHS & care staff & us all
