Love seeing folks talk about new digital options for comics but I'd really love to see comics folk talk more about the absolute abhorrent laws and budget cuts the government is passing to dismantle our library system. Librarians are KEY to the accessibility & success of comics.

Collecting things is fine. Getting your comics is graded is fine. Causing a feeding frenzy and pricing out the core audience for a hit of dopamine before moving onto the next thing isn’t. /end

I know more than my fair share about variant cover strategy, retailer exclusives, CGC grading because of my time in sales for western comics publishing, and catering to that market exclusively is not a viable business strategy. It won’t stick in manga because of readership. 3/🧵

Ok so, the manga industry is based on readership, not collectibility, so unlike the western comics market, spec collectors really have no place in it to drive any part of the industry. Collectibility is arbitrary and rarity in comics is largely based on print runs and /🧵
