🚨Nvidia alone is worth more than the only 2 energy companies that made the top 20 of the world's most valuable public companies combined. $5.21 trillion for one chip designer. $2.37 trillion for Saudi aramco and ExxonMobil together. Every other energy company on Earth every other refiner, every LNG exporter, every pipeline operator doesn't even make the list. Then AI showed up. By 2030, the IEA projects global data center electricity demand more than doubles to 945 TWh a Japan sized new load. The US alone hits 425 TWh. China adds 285. US AI will run on gas. In the US, gas is already 43% of utility scale generation. Every marginal AI megawatt for the next decade burns natural gas. The market is paying 30× earnings for the chips and 12× for the molecules gas in the US, that have to burn to make those chips compute. I wrote about it, in my latest article, link in replies 👇

The $20B elephant is entering the room. 🐘🇳🇬 Aliko Dangote just confirmed the Dangote Refinery IPO is coming to the NGX this quarter! 🚀 Why it’s a game-changer: • You buy in Naira, but earn dividends in USD. 💵  • Targeting a Pan-African listing (NGX + NSE Kenya).  • Potential to push the NGX market cap past ₦200 Trillion.  Real world assets (RWA) just got a major upgrade. Forget the memes for a second; this is how you build a legacy. Are you positioning for this, or just watching from the sidelines? 📈 #DangoteRefinery #NGX #NigerianStocks #Investing #DiRTYDaTA

@OluchiJudith10 Those vouchers are clever. Stimulate demand while supporting elderly traders. Nigeria's SME ministry couldn't conceive something this practical. We specialise in glossy policy documents that gather dust.

Building competitive industries jobs requires investment in research & knowledge—yet most African countries invest under 0.5% of GDP. Kenya, Senegal & South Africa are leading the way. Closing this gap could reshape Africa’s future: wrld.bg/ngbN50YNSUU #AfricaEconomicUpdate

I've seen enough ribbon-cuttings in African markets to know the ceremony is the easy part. Execution capacity is where allocation decisions are won or lost.

Yesterday, we flagged off the Nsukka–Lejja–Aku–Ukehe road, a corridor that has long mattered to our people and our economy. For the communities along this route, this project means easier movement, reduced travel time, and better access for businesses and farmers to move goods and grow. We are focused on building infrastructure that solves real problems and improves daily life across every part of our state. 𝗧𝗼𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗼𝘄 𝗶𝘀 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲

@WBGPubs Two-thirds targeting agriculture, 10% high-tech. The productivity gap writes itself. SEZs work when they deliver regulatory innovation. Common law courts, not subsidies.

@_alice_evans Exactly why I distrust composite indices in African contexts. They capture the formal, visible layer. The informal reality of how power actually works is always messier.

The Standard Cross Culture is a widely used dataset on small-scale societies. I probed the underlying primary data for its index of "female power". In truth, it is grossly misleading. Societies that get the maximum score might still be extremely violent & patriarchal

@_alice_evans Indicators capturing form, not substance. In Makoko, official participation data masks coercive realities just like these 'female power' scores mask violence.

Academics use the Standard Cross Cultural Sample to study the variation of small scale societies But looking at the indicator for “female power”, I realised that many societies given the max score were actually violent & coercive Including “ceremonial rape”

Nigeria: ~5GW of grid capacity for 200m+ people. I'll believe in the energy transition when there's something to transition from.

Ìlájé local government areas of Ondo State, aside being covered by 70% water and below sea level. The region has one of the most organized coastal construction and city settings in Nigeria. Over the years, we've structured our buildings and constructions, build houses that can stand the test of time if not for sea incursion and ocean surge that happens once there's rise in sea water level. That aside, this system of construction has provided a lot of job opportunities for our people who reside there and found peace there . It remained the most peaceful zone in this country as far as Nigeria' is concerned, except for natural disaster that engraved the city . We have numerous city and towns on water, and in the nearest future with a visionary leaders from local government level, state we can have a modern coastal city without displacing the people but instead matching their reality and giving them a sense of belonging. We've done that before with Ayetoro, many of it can be replicated with better results in view. What do you like/hear about ìlájé people? Drop it in the comments section below.

Life on water. Those spaces are where boat parks when they returned from ocean and fishing. Can you spend your holiday here?

@ShivrattanDhil1 The 5 vs 50 year framing is sharp. Same short-termism in Lagos, Dar, Nairobi. Concrete wins. Trees lose.

What a Swiss–French visionaries imagined 78 years ago still puts us to shame. Le Corbusier and M. S. Randhawa showed what real city planning looks like. India doesn’t lack land, climate advantage, or natural resources it suffers from poor planning. Across most of the country, except a few well-designed cities and pockets, we treat nature as a hurdle instead of an asset. Shade-giving native trees are replaced with decorative plants in the name of “modern development.” Roads get wider, concrete keeps expanding and then we wonder why cities feel 5–10°C hotter every summer. We don’t need more concrete jungles. We need smarter, climate-conscious cities. The real question is: Are we building for the next 5 years… or the next 50? 👍🏻 #Chandigarh #LeCorbusier

@ennyola0015 Classic cart before horse. Can't transition from what you haven't built. Nigeria's grid delivers ~5GW for 200m+ people. Priority is base load capacity, not fuel type.

French President Macron either does not understand Africa’s problems or has chosen to focus on the wrong priorities. He is pushing Africa to shift its energy strategy from carbon-based fuels to cleaner energy, France assume that: stable power grids already exist, And the necessary infrastructure is already in place.
