Kursk Oblast', Gornal. Unexpectedly, yesterday I received information of a possible Ukrainian entry into the village, perhaps in force, perhaps with a DRG, I'm not sure. The Russians in the area also seem to know about this, which is why I am posting it with a short delay. Honestly, I don't think this will result in anything other than a limited sabotage action at best, and positions will probably not be held, but we'll see. Anyways, I'm still reporting it for completeness.

@_Credible_Hulk @_Credible_Hulk In the wake of results I have to revisit this poll. See my other post. SPD short of being destroyed, FDP dead, CDU and greens tied, Linke stronger than ever but still not in and far from the 7% reported. They don't really benefit from middle east tensions.

@_Credible_Hulk Note: Your poll is on Berlin state election where Linke was in government around 2001. The original thread's poll is on another state where Linke never won a seat in state parliament (2.8 to 3.6%) but both are influenced by the general revival of that party.

If you asked anybody in the 1990s about SPD in this state, it was the natural second after CDU solid around 25-35% and FDP never flunked there since 1952. Nobody would have thought SPD could be in danger of flunking. It's a different era now.

SPD achieved 10 seats at 5.55 percent, dangerously close to the 5% cut off. They won no district. FDP didn't make it in their historic heart land. They crashed from 10.46 % to 4.38 % / zero seats and landed behind Die Linke at 4.41 % - not quite in but their strongest result yet

Germany, lBaden-Württemberg state elections. Greens lost two seats but are still strongest party at 30% Conservative CDU improved by 5 % to 29,69 making both parties achieve 56 seats each. Right wing AfD won massively reaching a solid third at 35 seats. SPD barely entered.

@ABarbashin Losing involves all kinds of undesirable consequences so I guess losing isn't popular among most. Dissidents usually don't "win" by having a lost war. Even those who want to end a war asap have a much better time selling that if their nation can impose some conditions.

Siversk direction. Ukrainian forces do not have a presence in Sviato-Pokrovske anymore. Possible further gray zone permanence in the village will be due to lack of Russian consolidation and not Ukrainian control.

Kind of a bad time to ask but uh, what happens to Putin and the Russians since Iran was basically the main drone supplier and the Russian economy is collapsing

@jonnytickle A newly opened cafe or coffee shop in a European major city has a less than 50% chance to survive into its second year. Restaurant figures are similar. Some years ago it was older established pubs and corner shops closing. Changing trends, tastes and economic realities.

In Moscow, small cafés are closing rapidly while the chains are expanding at breakneck speed. Surf Coffee is opening two or three new locations every month. Drinkit is growing even faster. Bakeries like SeDelice and Brusnika are popping up in almost every new housing complex.

@txgermanbre CDU in Berlin is much like CDU in Portugal though they wouldn't know. Socially conservative or traditionalist values relative to their peers. Current leader guy is not the smartest in the world and not close either. They are glad their voters don't really get it.

The only issue I would have in Germany would be that I would probably start throwing graphs, economic data & analysis, and then lock myself in a bathroom in Berlin screaming about the CDU’s failures & NOT from a liberal lense. From an economic one. The CDU has been disappointing

This post from early November remains valid. Recent Ukrainian counterattacks along the Hulyaipole axis confirm that Russian force density in certain sectors — including operationally significant ones — remains relatively low, enabling well-coordinated Ukrainian assaults to achieve rapid, localised territorial gains. The key question remains whether Ukraine possesses sufficient reserves to consolidate gains and hold recaptured positions before Russian forces regroup and counterattack. What we are witnessing now is a clear Ukrainian tactical success and a notable Russian setback. Russian forces were unable to translate their earlier operational achievement — crossing the Haichur River — into a durable foothold. Equally significant was their apparent failure to anticipate and absorb the Ukrainian counterstroke, which reversed more than a month of Russian advances in the area. And the scale of the setback is evident. It may also suggest that Ukraine’s manpower constraints, which we have long considered a structural vulnerability, are being mitigated, at least locally and temporarily.
Konrad Muzyka - Rochan Consulting@konrad_muzyka

As seen in many recent Ukrainian counterattacks, Russian forces—though advancing—often maintain low force density. This allows relatively small Ukrainian units, such as an infantry company or battalion (it does not apply to this video), to push the FLOT significantly, particularly when supported by combined assets such as drones, electronic warfare, and artillery. The main challenge, as always, lies in sustaining these gains given Russia’s dominance in drones and artillery, and Ukraine’s shortage of reserves to exploit tactical successes.

Has anybody tried to make jokes in an adult show which flew over the head of the adults and children laughed? In Flintstones era it was the other way around. Time for a change.
