@justvanrossum @blackfoundry I've got some Python PTSD so trying not to ruin my old machine (Mojave). After I download and install the python-3.10.7-macos11.pkg and Install Certificates.command...running Python --version still shows 3.9.6 – how do I switch it?

@justvanrossum The joke gets less funny (if it ever was) when phone and laptop use completely different default fonts. Also, Chirp should support more scripts.

@justvanrossum Side note: I was replacing with Armenian «օ» to attach to the question mark «՞» so there shouldn’t be any extra space added. Works fine while typing then breaks after posting.

@hhpapazian @simoncozens Without Mijaket having its own Unicode, I think U+002E (Full Stop) is a better option design-wise (shape + spacing) and accessibly-wise (easy to type on any keyboard). The lack of basic punctuation is among the many issues of Noto Armenian.

@y_haralambous I feel you, brother... Here's something exceptionally shameful from Yerevan: Armenian most certainly doesn't use the apostrophe for the possessive (in fact Eastern Armenian doesn't use it at all) but here behold an apostrophe followed by our letter with the sound of "s"!! :-/

@hhpapazian @ken_lunde The Armenian keyboard I’ve become familiar with duplexes (mostly) logically with corresponding Latin punctuation. ։ = opt + . ՝ = opt + , ՚ = opt + shft + u ՞ = opt + ? ՜ = opt + 1 ՛ = opt + ՛ ֊ = opt + shft + ‘

@hhpapazian @ken_lunde Keyboards are certainly a culprit. There are all sorts of keyboard layouts for Armenian (both Western and Eastern flavors) that are awkward, confusing, and incomplete.

@ken_lunde I come across these input errors/bad practices often and at times within the same paragraph. Also seen U+007E ~ TILDE used instead of the U+055C ՜ ARMENIAN EXCLAMATION and U+00B4 ´ ACUTE used instead of U+055B ՛ ARMENIAN EMPHASIS

① Is it common—or is there a convention—to use ASCII lookalike punctuation in lieu of actual Armenian punctuation? Such as using U+003A : COLON and U+0060 ` GRAVE ACCENT in lieu of U+0589 ։ ARMENIAN FULL STOP and U+055D ՝ ARMENIAN COMMA, respectively?

My grandfather was the only one out of 13 siblings to survive the #ArmenianGenocide The rest perished in Constantinople. 4 years after the start of The Armenian Genocide, in his early twenties, he was already publishing books like this.
