@GrammarTable I went with "who live". Who, because they're human, I assume. Live, because I see "couple" as a collective noun. I'm more rigid on the "who" than the "live".

@flipdrivel The choice is affected by those differences but not determined by them. Lots of variety.

@GrammarTable Over time more and more people seem to make this kind of mistake (not trying to vs. trying not to) Budensiek said Woods was cooperative but was “not trying to incriminate himself...he was careful in what he said and didn’t say."

@artmarkham I almost always treat "data" as a mass noun these days, but I do not begrudge people doing data analysis their plural. 😊

@GrammarTable I would say that "none" is not the same as "no one", even if it started as that. It has come to be read differently, and I think using the singular has become unnatural. Not dissimilar to how "data" has clearly been a mass noun for a long time, but some stick to "data are...".
